About the New 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV
Chevrolet is entering the electric pickup market with a model it says will be its best-selling product. The Silverado EV will be the brand’s second all-electric vehicle, joining the already-popular Bolt EV. But unlike the Bolt, which is outfitted with the right hardware to become an EV, the Silverado EV was designed from the ground up as a fully-fledged electric truck. That means it has plenty of clever tricks up its sleeve.
For starters, it’ll be offered in WT and RST trim levels as a single- or dual-motor model with up to 400 miles of range. It will also be capable of towing up to 10,000 pounds, have four-corner air ride suspensions that can raise or lower the model by two inches, and come standard with Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving tech.
The truck will use a new Linux-based software program that promises quick information exchange and over-the-air updates for quicker fixes, too. GM also plans to offer the Silverado EV with a variety of charging options, including DC fast charging.
In the cabin, the Silverado EV will offer a 17-inch infotainment screen and a configurable 11-inch driver’s display. It’ll also be available with a fixed glass panoramic roof, ambient lighting, and other upscale touches. The Silverado EV will start at around $39,000 for the Edition 1 RST, with lower models to be added in 2024. Chevy started accepting reservations for the Silverado EV on Jan. 5, with a $100 deposit securing your spot in line.
